I am guilty of this... even after going to "art school" I still don't know my history as much as I should. So this is my history lesson to myself. Stefan Kanchev (1915-2001) was one amazing logo designer. Since most of his work was done behind the iron curtain, His name might not be as familiar to you. His work is truly amazing and inspiring. Over at logoblink they put together a 160 pg PDF of his work. What is really impressive are his sketches... they are so well crafted it makes me feel ashamed of mine.
